Choices

Do you know for sure that if you died today you would go to heaven?

My friend, it is very simple to know for sure. You see God is a God of Love and has a wonderful plan for your life. The Bible tells us that he loves us so much He was willing to die for us!

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -John 3:16

The Bible also tells us that all men are sinners and this is where the problem lies. God made man in His own image. He gave man the ability to choose right from wrong. We choose to sin and our sins keep us from God. Our sins have separated us from God.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. -Romans 3:23

God's Word also says that sin must be paid for:

For the wages of sin is death... -Romans 6:23

Wages means payment. The payment of our sin in death and hell, separation from God forever. But, here is the Good News - the Gospel. The Lord Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty for your sin. He collected the wages of death for you!

But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us -Romans 5:8

All of our sins were laid on Christ on the cross. He paid our sin debt for us. The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed His blood for our sin. He was buried and three days later He arose from the dead. He is alive forever more.

Now it is up to you to personally pray and receive Christ by faith and be born again. Jesus Christ wants to have a personal relationship with you. He is waiting for your to receive Him into your heart and life! Admit you're a sinner and need to be saved from Hell. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).

We must trust Jesus Christ as lord and saviour and receive him by personal invitation.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. -Romans 10:13

Are you willing to ask Jesus to be your Saviour?

Then please ask Him to save your soul in a prayer like this:

Lord I know that I am a sinner. If I died today, I would not go to Heaven. Please forgive my sin, and come into my life and be my saviour. Help me live for you from this day forward. In Jesus Name, Amen.”

Makes You Think

Our desire is to present Articles which will challenge you both mentally and spiritually and assist you in your walk with the Lord.

Dont know if this little story is true but it makes you think..
A Christian
Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a church in Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'You'd better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it.' Then he thought, 'Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from God' and keep quiet.'
When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, 'Here, you gave me too much change.'
The driver, with a smile, replied, 'Aren't you the new preacher in town?' 'Yes' he replied.
'Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I'll see you at church on Sunday.'
When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, 'Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter.'
Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians, and will put us to the test! Always be on guard -- and remember - You carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself
'Christian.'
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
I'm glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder.
If you don't pass this on to anybody, nothing bad will happen; but, if you do, you will have ministered to someone.
The Will of God will never take you to where the Grace of God will not PROTECT you...
Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL

The role of The Local Church

The following are some thoughts on the role of The Local Church as a witness unto the Lord Jesus

When we consider the Lord Jesus' teachings concerning about why the church ( believers ) have been left here on planet earth, there are a number of possibilities which may be raised. Some might say it is to glorify God, others to learn some lessons, yet others might say to do good works. Whilst each of these, and perhaps others are important, it seems to me that the main reason and perhaps the only one which could not be accomplished if we were taken straight to heaven when we are saved, is that the church, you and I as believers, may be a witness unto the Lord Jesus. Paul put it this way in Rom 10:14 "How then shall they call on Him whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"

The Lord Jesus gave the commandment to the church immediately before He ascended into heaven ".....and ye shall be witnesses unto ME.." Acts 1:8.

When people are first saved they are excited and want to tell others about the Lord and what He has done for them. Indeed that is one of the main indicators that someone has been saved. Generally what happens though is that within the first few months of being saved most believers have witnessed to their friends and family and that is about where their witnessing stops.

I want to suggest some reasons why many believers are not the witnesses that they ought to be.

1. One of the reasons is the problem of fear; the fear of man! Proverbs 29:25 tells us that this fear brings a snare. It at times almost paralyses us and stops us from witnessing. Throughout the scriptures it is obvious that fear is a problem for God's people, God often saying, " Be not afraid ! "
Peter hpad problems with it and denied the Lord. The parents of the man born blind feared, John 9:22. The apostle Paul had a struggle with fear, ICor 2:3, but he did not allow fear to defeat him. Paul gave his antidote to fear in IITim 1:7. We need to ask God to make that verse a reality in our lives too. We must say with David "What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee" Ps 56:3

2. Sometimes we feel that we don't know enough to be a witness; like the Pastor or the youth leader! We do not need to be able to give a 5 page thesis on the trinity or the deity of Christ or why we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Now we do need to know what we believe about these and other biblical truths, however, we need to remember what a witness is expected to do. A witness is to tell what he knows, has seen, has heard eg in a court of law. Not what someone else knows etc. Remember the maniac in the country of the Gadarenes , Mark 5:19; the woman at the well John 4:29. The apostle Paul often gave his testimony ie he was a witness unto the Lord Jesus. We can ALL do that if we are saved!

3. Unconfessed sin will stop us from being a witness. When we ask God to help us be a witness while we have unconfessed sin He will not hear us Ps 66:18. We will have no joy which is such a powerful part of our witnessing. David found out that unconfessed sin meant no joy and therefore no witnessing; " Restore unto me the joy.......Then will I teach.." Ps 51:13,14.
When we have unconfessed sin then we grieve/quench the Holy Spirit and therefore have no power to be a witness, Acts 1:8

4. Pride is another reason why we are not the witness we ought to be. We think " I can be a witness! " , pride! OR " I can not be a witness", also pride ( inverted) ! I am not good enough etc! God's Word is clear, He resists the proud, but gives grace ( to be a witness ) to the humble. The middle letter of pride is ' I '. Witnessing is not about 'I' but it is all about 'HIM' !

5. Some times the excuse is that we are too busy. The Lord Jesus referred to people with this type of excuse; Luke 9:59-62.
What are our priorities? Try some cross bearing, Luke 9:23. Try praying " Nevertheless not my will but Thy will be done". God has given us all enough hours in the day that we might be a witness unto the Lord Jesus!

If any of these are what is hindering us from being the witness we ought to be, then we need to confess them as sin and obey our Lord's command. Get involved in your church's outreach ministries; doorknocking etc. If your church does not have any then let the Lord use you to start one.

We CAN all be a witness if we are saved; we have a testimony to give. We all MUST be a witness because we are commanded too.
